The Weekend Edition

Like book-in-a-month, Speedbo in its purest form is a 31 day self-challenge where the writer puts aside the inner critic and produces manuscript pages with the ultimate goal of completing an entire book. No editing allowed.  However, we'll take your Speedbo any way you want to do it (revisions, short stories--you name it).

Check in is NOT required. But you must comment to win a Speedbo weekly prize. See details here.

Starting Line Up Prize: $25 Amazon Gift Card awarded to one entrant who signs up before March 1, 2014. Weekly Prizes: March 8, 15, 22, 29 and April 5

Each week we'll award an $25 Amazon Gift Card & a 10 page anonymous Seeker Critique (Romance only-any subgenre). Critiques to be claimed after Speedbo. Winners have 8 weeks to claim these prizes per our legal page.

Additionally, April 1 and 2, Seekerville will have a two-day event with an anonymous agent who will then launch Seekerville's next contest, Seekerville Read Me! Agent Contest. The contest is for unagented (Published or Unpublished) authors who entered Speedbo. You must have signed up for Speedbo to enter this contest.

And if you finish your novel you can sign up for Tina Radcliffe's Self-Editing for Beginner's Night Class. A five week boot camp to get that novel ready to submit!

We're gearing up to make this year your best writing year yet!

We Have Winners

If you are a winner, email us asap at seekers@seekerville.net. Please  read our legal page here. If you haven't received your prize in 8 weeks, drop us a line (we get busy writing books and forget). You must contact us every single time you win.

I'm so glad March has Speedbo because otherwise it's my least favorite month of the year. Trying to turn that around with 31 days of productivity!

Great WE as usual. Thanks, Tina!

May and I were thrilled to visit with everypawdy and can't wait to send out the presents!

We've also had over 3100 FREE downloads of May's first e-book, so that's something to celebrate, and an excellent thoughtful review to add to the mix. (Thx so much Marianne!)

I am psyched about a writing weekend.

    I am amazingly BLESSED.

Tina, I love this WE, you have outdone yourself in more ways than could be humanly imagined. Thank you!!!!

What a whirlwind week here in upstate, crazy fun kid stuff, RAIN, we haven't seen rain in a very long time, sloggy, muddy driveway but it's about to deep freeze us again, so that slog will turn to MUD TRENCHES.

SO FUN!!!!! Diggin' my galoshes out right now!!!!

K.C.!!!! I'm so stinkin' proud of you! That's just wonderful news, digital is so much fun.

    Go, you!!!!

  6. Marianne, you're the sweetest thing....

I'm so glad Tina got to meet you and Mom at the chocolate bash, and I love your love of reading. I would like to CLONE you about gazillion times because you just make me happy every single, stinkin' day.

    Thank you for that.

  7. Rumor has it that MARY CURRY is breaking land-speed records (very NASCAR FRIENDLY) with her writing lately..... RUTHY IS VERY PROUD OF HER AND WANTED TO GIVE HER A PUBLIC SHOUT OUT BECAUSE THIS ROCKS THE BIG KAHUNA!!!!!!

  9. Congrats to all the winners.

I'm so excited about Speedbo. I don't work at the store the weekend it starts, and my husband will be out of town for work the first week. I'll miss him like crazy, but I won't need to cook, make the bed, etc for a few days, and I can just write.....but I'll miss him like crazy! Maybe I can write a few scenes with the heroine missing the hero. Ha!

    Have a great weekend!

YAY FOR ME BECAUSE I SIGNED UP FOR SPEED-BO FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!!

LOL ... I just read the article entitled "Why Writers are the Worst Procrastinors" (and, yes, I WAS procrastinating at the time!) and laughed my head off! SOOO good to know it's a fault inherent in the writer's personality and not just my own personal demon!

    Great We as always, Teenster!

    HUGS,
    Julie

    ReplyDelete
  29. Another super WE, Tina!

And YAY to CHRISTINA for the novella contract!!!! Thrilled for you!

I'm excited about Speedbo, too! I'm actually ready to begin a new wip, so the timing is perfect. Hoping to make LOTS of progress next month and (if things go according to plan) maybe even finish the book!

The one interruption I'll have to work around, though, is the arrival of our seventh grandchild, due any day now! Can't wait to meet our new baby girl!

    ReplyDelete
  30. YIPPEE Christina!

That's fantastic and definitely calls for CHOCOLATE!!!

I'm just checking in, taking a break from spring cleaning. Trying to get this in before winter comes back with a roar next week!

ACK. Toying with Speedbo. So much on my plate right now, I can't do it justice, but I'd sure like to get back to WRITING. There's a story brewing... It might involve May & a cruise line in the Baltic. Just saying'... maybe.

Hey thanks, Julie! Yeah - we're pretty pumped. For some reason, the downloads have taken on a life of their own. We're up to 3325 as of 10 minutes ago. Pawmazing. Sure appreciate the bark outs! We got as high as 119 on FREE Kindle so that's not it (breaking into top 100). We ARE #1 in our subcategories though. Dunno. We'll take it however it comes... Trying to rest in the Lord with the business end too. :)

Also, If you guys aren't on Marie Force's self pub loop, this was posted. http://valeriecomer.com/guest-post-illustrator-hanna-sandvig/ It's delightful! I've inquired for May the K9 Spy too. We'll see.

So many fun things to celebrate this WE. Thanks as always Tina!

  32. KC that's great about the downloads!! :)

  33. Myra!!!! You know I love me some babies!!!!! How fun to be expecting a little one, that's always such an amazing time... and I have to say I worry more for my beautiful daughters and daughters-in-law than I ever did for myself.

    Why is that???????

Ridiculous really, they're all so smart and capable, and yet... Grammy keeps her watch, just to make sure things are okay.

What a pain in the neck I am!!!

Myra, I'd love to see you finish that book in March! My goal is to finish my beautiful, wonderful Love Inspired Christmas book working title Max and Tina's Excellent Christmas Adventure AND.... to finish a novella I'm working on for a fall indie release.... and a new proposal for Love Inspired.

So first the book (it's half-done so I'm CHEATING.... but that's priority one....) then the proposal...(I don't get paid if no one buys my books, therefore this is VERY IMPORTANT....) and then the last half of indie novella.

I love going into this with clear goals because then I want to BEAT THEM.

    I blame Tina.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Waving to Connie! So glad you won THE AGENT'S SECRET PAST!!!

Keep us posted on Killer Voices! YAY!!!

Christina, congrats on the contract. How exciting. Can you breathe? LOL!

    More tomorrow!

  36. Thinking about signing up for Speedbo...Wondering if I should do it with some of the other writing commitments I have going on. :/ But if I keep putting my novel last, it will NEVER get finished!
    Congrats to the winners! :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Congrats Christina! I so love your exciting news.

Myra enjoy that darling girl when she arrives.

Ruthy - you sound just like my mom used to. She had seven children, but worried to death about her girls and granddaughters having babies.

I'm sure I've missed someone's good news. Please forgive me. I read every post, but I'm old and my memory left me by the time I started posting.

One thing I didn't forget is I won the Kindle version of KC and May's books. Me, Crosby, and Nolly Grace are going to have a fun time reading them!
    Thanks KC and May!

Thanks Tina for a great WE!!!

  43. EXACTLY JENNIFER SMITH.

It's only 31 days. You can do anything for 31 days.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Ditto what The Radcliffe said, Jennifer.

You can do anything for a day.

    Anything for a week.

    And anything for a month.

And then you know what? It's become a habit, and that's the best part of any 30 day writing challenge. It's like the K-Love Radio 30 Day Music challenge, because 30 days is just enough time to see how easy it is to commit.

    Go for it, Jen.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yay Myra!

#7? Wawzah!!! We'll want photos of course.

HURRAH Terri! We'll see what Nolly Grace thinks of her namesake, but she'll have to wait until book 3. :) Appreciate y'all so much.

Taking the lead from Marie Force's self-pub loop that I found through our TINA!!!, I wanted to share the numbers as an FYI.

  55. Ruthy -

    Go YOU!

But you have some splainin' to do.

You're wondering if the kids see the freebies on their Kindles? Unsure what you mean there. We were #1 in our subcategories (in children's spies/mystery/detectives/adventure - that sort of thing)

But never made it to top 100 overall.
    So - unsure...

Thanks y'all. I know the romance folk get lots lots lots more downloads than we do, but we'll take what we can get. :)

    Seekerville is the best.

Speedbo. I know. Thinking about it still. Want to! Should... It's a definite maybe, though if Julie signed up for the first time... ;)

  56. A little late here, but have been thinking of Speedbo on and off all weekend...even mentioned it to hubby, son and DIL at the dinner table the other night. I really wasn't sure I was going to do it... Haven't written in months (compared to years last year!) and haven't even done my synopsis from the LI pitch last year either. Not sure if it's procrastination or fear or what holding me back.

This morning I woke up thinking about it (hmm...) and thought maybe I should steer away from the series I've had in mind for a long long time and go with something different. My huge "hobby" is genealogy (and I've made some money doing research for folks) and I've thought about combining genealogy and writing, so that's the book I'm going to work on. Yes, it's Christian romance--already have the characters and the first few paragraphs (did that a few years ago), so time to spend some quality time with them.

I haven't been on Seekerville in months *hanging head* and have missed it, but life is still crazy around here and about to get crazier (my hubby was out of work for 8 months, started a new job less than 10 minutes away in January, and he is about to become a part-time associate pastor at our church, which means I have to be more visible at certain things related to church--tough for an introvert like me!). So why not throw something else into the mix? :)

Sent my "sign-me-up" e-mail a few minutes ago.

    *gulp* ;-)

    Blessings!

  57. Did not realize that our DIL was signed in to Google through my laptop (ARGH) so "Jen Pike" is really me.
