First Sale for Mary Curry!!

Mary Curry is thrilled to share good news with her Seekerville friends. This past week, she sold to Love Inspired Suspense. Editor Emily Rodmell chose Mary as part of the KillerVoices search for new LIS authors. Her book is a Christmas story so it is scheduled to be released during the holiday season in 2015.

Congratulations Jan Drexler!!

Jan sold a three book series to Revell this week! About the series: In the middle of the 19th century, against the background of a nation wrestling with its own growing pains, the Amish church underwent what historians call “The Great Schism.” Amish communities were faced with the decision to hold to the old way of living and worshiping God, or to change with the times and embrace new ideas, while still holding fast to their Anabaptist beliefs. You'll be able to follow the story of one Amish family during these turbulent times.

DETAILS HERE

Finally, Seekerville said goodbye to a very special friend this week. May the K9 Spy is now in puppy heaven. Sending Seekerville hugs to her mom, K.C. Frantzen!

That's it! See you in San Antonio!

So very sad about May the K9, and sending gentle hugs to KC. It's so very hard losing a special pet, so I'm praying you'll feel peace and comfort, KC. Know that May touched many lives.

I'll be eagerly awaiting photos and updates from RWA!! Safe travels to everyone attending this year (I still have wonderful memories from last year--my first RWA - - it was awesome!).

Jan!!!!! You were able to come clean and reveal the AWESOME SECRET!!!!!!! Oh, happy dancing for you, my friend, I can't wait to read this!!!! How did you nail your lips shut when we were talking Amish historical fiction earlier this week?????? Happy dancing for you!!!!

AND!!!!!! MARY CURRY, MY FRIEND, I'M SO EXCITED FOR YOU!!!! FIRST BOOK, FIRST REVISIONS (HAHAHAHAHA!) FIRST HARLEQUIN PARTY, FIRST RWA AS A CONTRACTED AUTHOR!!!!!!

Shoot, this is just a joy-filled, happy, happy amazingly wonderful week and I think a party in Seekerville is not too much to ask!!!!

Ruth Logan Herne said...

K.C. and I have chatted this week because she knows that I was a basket case last year when I lost my beautiful red Golden Retriever Maddie.... Six years old and gone... and my heart was so sad that she didn't have time to retire with me...

BUT... I remind every puppy owner/buyer that our love for dogs is a temporary situation. Even at fifteen years (a generous lifespan for a dog) most of us will outlive many pets.... I celebrate the joy they bring us, the laughter May's books have brought to my little ones here, and in the great tradition of Lassie... who had many beautiful dogs playing the part... I'm passing May's torch to Cassanova, May's bewhiskered brother.

Go get 'em, boy!!!!

Happy Saturday everyone!

Wow, all these folks headed to RWA...safe travels and have fun. I had thought about My Cowboy and I taking a road trip and dropping in on the FHL meeting, but I'm on a deadline and 4-5 days on the road would seriously cut into my writing time. So...

Hugs to KC. May was a sweetheart and held a special place in many lives.

Okay, must write! :)

To All Who Have Lost a Pet:

When we lost our 'little angel', Plato, over a decade ago, my wife found great comfort in a book written by a Tulsa lawyer. Over the years, Linda has given copies of this book to her grief stricken friends who have also lost pets. The author, Jean Holmes, often came to our local ACFW meetings. Today, this book just happens to be available for free on Amazon for the Kindle. I highly recommend having a copy of this book always available.

Do Dogs Go To Heaven? Revised Edition, Eternal Answers for Animal Lovers [Kindle Edition] Jean Holmes

Ruth Logan Herne said...

Aw, Vince, you're the best. You really are, ya' big Galoob.

(I don't know what a Galoob is, or if I spelled it correctly, but it's an endearment. At least it's SUPPOSED to be an endearment.)

I've always gone back to the James Herriot books when I want animal solace... His dog stories, oh my stars, I love every short story he ever wrote. And you know his books were more a collection of short stories than anything else, with a winding thread moving through them.

Wonderful.

Marvelous.

And he always recommended that true dog lovers have TWO DOGS... because when you lose one, you can shower love and kisses on the other (don't make them fat with dog treats, come on, we all know better than that!!!!) and then go buy a puppy.

I love puppies.

I HAVE A LOVE/HATE RELATIONSHIP WITH SHOPPING FOR CLOTHING....

I'm such a girl.

sigh.

Ruth Logan Herne said...

I have taken care of farm stuff, sent out mail, written 2k this morning, now it's time for a shower... and then another writing stint....

Church tonight so I have all tomorrow morning to WRITE.... before family reunion.

Scheduling my writing time as a priority has become a super smart thing to do!!!!! THIS IS GOOD!!!!

Debby Giusti said...

So thrilled about Mary Curry's sale...writing as Cate Nolan!!!

Yay, Mary. Your hard work paid off BIG TIME!!! So, so happy for you. Emily made a great decision when she bought your story!

Jan, a three-book deal to Revell! As Ruthy would say, That's Su-Weet!!! Congrats. Love the story line. You're our own Beverly Lewis, only better!!!

Debby Giusti said...

Looking forward to seeing all those attending RWA!!! Be sure to stop by my table at the literacy signing. Can't wait!

For those not going, please watch Ruthy and don't let her get out of hand. Okay? She can be a wild New Yorker. Keep her in line, pretty please. LOL!

Donna said...

KC, I am so sorry to hear May has passed on. Praying for mended hearts for your family.

Donna said...

Congrats to Mary Curry! It couldn't have happened to a nicer person!

More Jan Drexler books!! When I first read about the series I thought it said it was bout 'National Wrestling' instead of a nation wrestling, lol. You don't seem like the wrestling fan type.

Wilani Wahl said...

Congratulations, Mary Cury and Jan. I am so thrilled for you.

I will be thinking about everyone in San Antonia this week. I want to hear all about it.

Debby Giusti said...

Sending hugs and love and lots of sympathy to KC and hubby! So sorry to hear about May's passing. You've been such a team over the years. I know your hearts are heavy and that makes all of us sad. Holding you close during this time of loss.

Congratulations Mary and Jan! I'm so excited for you both!

Have a great weekend!

Jan Drexler said...

I am so stinkin' thrilled about Mary's sale to LI - and after all that work on her Killer Voices entry! Hard work does pay off, doesn't it?

And thank you for all the congrats! As all of you know, publishing a book is a dream come true - and this contract is the next dream. Been Snoopy dancing - and working hard on research!!!

Condolences to Kc. May was a special dog.

I HAVE A LOVE/HATE RELATIONSHIP WITH SHOPPING FOR CLOTHING....

I'm such a girl.

ME? I'm not a girl. The gene skipped me. I LOATHE shopping. It took 6 hours of torture for me to find a dress I didn't look hideous in.

I still need shoes. I used to love shoe shopping. That was before I became a teacher and got ugly feet.

I kid you not. I was in the dressing room so long and so many times that I lost track of the days and thought it was SUNDAY!

On a happier note, thank you everyone for the kind wishes and congratulations. If it wasn't for the fact I had to go dress shopping, I Might not believe it yet.

Congrats to Jan whose news is way cooler than mine. Way to go, Jan.

And way to go on the awesome WE, Tina! ;)

Tina Radcliffe said...

In a way clothes shopping for conference is like those memories of the first day of school. New dress, new shoes and socks and undies. Brand new lunch box.

EXCEPT that it is much more painful now.

Ruth Logan Herne said...

Ah, Mary Curry, you misunderstood my dilemma.... the love part is the ability to get new things....

The hate part is that they look hideous.

And so we have a GREAT DEAL IN COMMON, my friend. Whence I am sitting alone at Financier next weekend as you dance your way through Harlequin Party amazement... I shall tip my coffee cup toward Brooklyn and think of ye.

:)

Ruth Logan Herne said...

Mary Curry, you take that back!!!! Jan would be the first person to tell you that her news isn't cooler.... it's equally cool, LOL!

Oh my stars, that first call, the first contract the first revisions (heart quaking!!!!) the first everything.... it's a plunge into the darkness, the yawning abyss, the reality of reality....

And it's so stinkin' exciting!!!!!

Happy dancing for both of youse!!!!

And thrilled that Dana from our class got the call too, this is HAPPY, HAPPY TIME!!!!!

Jan Drexler said...

Ruthy is SO Right!

That first contract makes you speechless! I laughed out loud at odd intervals for no reason...for days. My family thought I was nuts :)

There's absolutely no feeling like that first one.

Now I'm getting all teary eyed. I love it when I hear about friends getting their first contract, because I get to relive some of that joy.

A Roman a Seekeur

Late last night I started reading “Stuck Together”. I was shocked! Never have I’ve seen a literary character so literally dragged through the mud as poor Tina. It took a second chapter for Glynna to help give Tina a bath and wash her hair free of dirt. This all happens before Vince finds out that Missy is a hidden relative! Of course, out of town and in the barn with the animals, Ruth has problems of her own.

Why this sorry treatment of poor Tina now tops even that of Myra Dean’s being placed in a nursing home and then killed off so the hero could buy her house cheap! ('Myra Dean': that’s a Seekeur twofer.)

This is book III and I still think Luke is the physician. How could you not name the doctor, Luke? The handsome hero, Vince. Check. The preacher, Jonas. Check. The physician, Dare? Tilt.

I believe that ”Stuck Together” is a roman à seekeur and that ‘you know who’ had more fun writing this than literary license permits. I think this whole book was a sweet spot!

BTW: Happy to have won “The Guy Next Door” – reading Missy is like it was being a fan of Tony Hillerman. While it took forever for the next book to come out, the read was always worth the wait. Thanks

GREAT WE, TEENSTER, AS ALWAYS!!

SUPER CONGRATS TO MARY CURRY ON RECEIVING "THE CALL" -- YOU GO, GIRL!!

AND SUPER-DUPER CONGRATS TO JAN DREXLER ON HER 3-BOOK SERIES TO MY PUBLISHER, REVELL!! WELCOME TO THE FAMILY, MY FRIEND -- YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THESE PEOPLE!!

FINALLY, MY HEART GOES OUT TO DEAR KC ON THE PASSING OF HER SWEET MAY -- IT'S SO VERY DIFFICULT TO LOSE A PET, ESPECIALLY ONE AS PROLIFIC AND PERSONABLE AS MAY. SAYING PRAYERS FOR ALL OF YOU.

HUGS,
JULIE

So many interesting links in this WE. I'm a little envious of those going to RWA, but winning Debby's book makes up for it.

Congrats to other winners and huge Congratulations Jan Drexler and Mary Curry. Happy Dancing for you.

So sorry, KC, about May. She'll be missed by many.

Mary Connealy said...

May was a precious favorite of ours here at Seekerville. So sorry Kc. :(

Mary Connealy said...

Vince, thank you for all those kind words.

I've got an over abundance of Seeker names in my books but I'm pretty much through them all now.

And I managed VINCE, too. :)

Although I've got a real pill named Myra in an upcoming book because honestly, killing off Myra Dean was such a minor plot point. She wasn't well, it's not like I plunged her over a cliff.

My next Myra is a really bad news type. SHAME ON YOU MYRA!!!!

Mary Connealy said...

And Tina....this is NOT what I say:

She'll also be giving away (in the words of Mary Connealy) the first known copies of her September release, Stranded with the Rancher to several lovely commenters.

What I say is: The first ever in the known universe giveaway of Tina's September release Stranded with the Rancher.

Get it right.

Mary Connealy said...

Wow, MARY CURRY I AM SO THRILLED FOR YOU!!! IT WAS TIME! HIGH TIME!!! YOU'VE WORKED HARD FOR THIS!!!

Mary Connealy said...

And JAN DREXLER!!!! SUCH A COOL, EXCITING, FANTASTIC CONTRACT!!! SO WELL DESERVED, YOU ARE WRITING AMISH, GUARANTEED SUCCESS, THEY SHOULD BE WAITING IN LINE FOR YOUR BOOKS!!!! BOTH PUBLISHERS AND READERS!!!

Mary Connealy said...

Vince I couldn't name the doctor Luke because when I created Luke Stone...aka Luciano Petra....in Over the Edge I knew he was a rancher....but I didn't even know he had friends who were Regulators. So they had to come next and Luke was already named and he was a rancher.
I guess he could have been a doctor part time but then what is Dare going to do for a living???
I'd written myself into a corner.

Also I never thought of it. Until now!

And a most sincere thank you, one and all, for the special condolences for our May. She was one of a kind. Please drop by her Facebook page and share your memories if you like. www.facebook.com/maythek9spy

She always felt at home here in Seekerville. Her younger brother, Casanova, will take up her mantle but as my DH said, Cass has some big paws to fill!

HUGS back to each of you. You're family and we know you know... MWAH!
