8 Tips for a Successful Booksigning (BookDaily)

Speedbo....31 days and counting! No Rules! Just Write!

  1. Another great WE, and more interesting links. TY

A weekend worth of coffee is brewing.

  2. I had fun on three links!!!! More later, but that was the perfect way to wake up, Teenster!

I have a book to edit and one to finish so I know exactly what I'll be doing in March. Edits are supposed to arrive Monday, and there's 20K left to write in the book... so that's my Speedbo goal, to keep both publishers happy!

And in the meantime, we'll be announcing our new Seekers novella collections soon!!!! SPRING READING!

    I'm psyched!

Next weekend: Cover reveal in the midst of SPEEDBO!!!!!!

Back later, Happy Saturday my friends!

  3. I'm really excited to force my but in the chair and write. I have been doing a lot of reading and reviews lately. Already 48 since the beginning of the year. I need a break :). Writing another book is just the ticket. Thank you! Good luck everyone!

  4. Great WE, Tina.
I'm pinning a lot of your #NOLIMTS signs on my Pinterest Inspirtional board. Thanks for the inspiration!

Ruthy, I'm loving your novella. My day is packed, but even if I don't finish before Speedbo starts, there's no way I can wait until the end of the month. I'm loving it!

Congrats to all the winners this week!

Kelly, you're going to love Speedbo!

  5. Congratulations to all of last weeks winners!

For the first time since it's inception, I'm not participating in Speedbo, but I am cheering everyone who is on and look forward to reading about everyone's progress.

  6. Happy Saturday, everyone. Time to clear the decks for Speedbo.

  7. So looking forward to SpeedBo!! Looks like a great week is ahead of us to kick it off too!
    Happy Saturday everyone!

  8. Yes, I want a copy of Ruthy's book.

Yes, I am ready for Speedbo!

Congrats to all the winners this week.

Heading to my niece's basketball tournament championship game. Have a great Saturday everyone!

  9. Great WE and congrats to all the winners.

    Yay, Speedbo starts tomorrow.

I'm going for training this morning as a volunteer at the Tucson Festival of Books. So exciting. It is an authors dream to be in this wonderful weekend dedicated to books and authors. YAY. The festival is March 14-15th.

  10. Thank you Tina.
This weekend I will be "snowflaking" "It Is Well With Her Soul." I have a draft, from NANO, but I don't want to write any more until I have some structure. I'll also be doing an initial pass-through of the second chapter in my crit partner's WIP. I don't have a lot of outside commitments for once, besides getting groceries, so this should be fun.

  11. I'm like RUTHY, in that I always have more than one project going. And I'm like MARY in that I am determined to Be Ready. Between Christmas and now I did a second version of "Trail," trimming it to 75,000 words, so I could promote it to LIH. The 85,000-word version is more of an epic and the 75,000-word version is an H&H romance with only the two points of view. But the message is the same. Forgiveness.
HELEN, thanks for the coffee, it's the weekend and I have time to enjoy it!

  12. I also take some inspiration from Martha Rogers, who didn't publish until she was 73!$%#%@@!!! I have a blog post from her in my inspirational folder. It's in God's timing and the women in my family live a long, long time. My grandmother lived to be 102, although she was pretty much incommunicado for the last two years.
    No limits, right?

  13. Another awesome Weekend Edition, TINA, and it's raining! A perfect day to get some of those reviews done! Congratulations to the winners!

  14. Rain in Glendale as well. Isn't it wonderful??

  15. A great line-up, Tina! Thanks again, :-)

I always enjoying the articles on Saturday afternoon when I take my tea break.

I will be especially nice this afternoon—we're covered in snow. I'll sit tucked under my fav blankie and sip hot tea, read, and watch the snow fall.

Good luck to all Speedboers! :-) ( Talk about making' up words . . . )

  16. Well, don't know about me, but 'IT' will be especially nice. :-)

  17. We've just returned from a trip to check on wedding details for our younger son's upcoming wedding, so I'm in WEDDING mode. Please ENTER ME for Ruthy's beautiful book!

Yay, #SPEEDBO for reaching 100! Waving to CP Donna and Anna! We can do this!

Speedbo prep: This afternoon, I'm making a double batch of lasagna for tonight's church dinner and freezing the other as a treat for hubby's March meals. I still need to get Kav's Treat Reward Calendar ready....jellybeans or chocolate??? BOTH! The house is as clean as it is going to be.....and just a bit more to do on my story outline, then #Speedbo tomorrow!

Congratulations to the winners! Thanks for the WE. After writing today, I'll reward myself by reading the links and catching up with the posts from last week.

Happy weekend of writing/reading/prepping to everyone. Go #Speedbo with #NoLimits!

  18. Lots of weddings coming up, Sherida. Mary has one and I have one.

Busy times. Yes. I need a treat reward calendar too. Must do this.

  19. Mary Hicks has a new profile pix.

  20. Tina:

I think I see some Sooners out there starting Speedbo already. Woops.

  21. Wow, that's a Speedbo army! Very excited to get started. Thanks for all the great links and congrats to the winners.

  27. Just popping in to say hi between my daughter's Odyssey of the Mind performances. I'd love to win Ruth's "All Dressed Up in Love"!

  28. I am excited for Speedbo and looking forward to the month of fun on Seekerville. Please enter me into the drawing for an e-book of All Dressed Up In Love.

  29. I'm on my phone and will look again on my laptop in a bit, but I didn't see me on the list on the website, Tina!!!

  31. Jackie, I'm so glad you love "All Dressed Up in Love"! Me, too!!! It's such a delightful story, it just captured my heart and my time working at Bridal Hall for 8 years. SO FUN!!!! Vince loved it, too, so this means the world to me, guys!

  32. Wilani, your name is in, sweet thing!!!

Sherida, you're in too!!! I love weddings!!!!! But you know that already!

Mary Hicks, I love it. Love it. Love it!!!

  33. Sandy, Becky, you too!!! The cat dish is gettin' goin' over here!!!!

I've just finished my second writing sprint today. I've done 2500 words. I know some folks can churn out more, but I'm a steady 1K/day person so I can plan the next scene mentally.

But on Saturday I alternate house stuff with writing. On Saturday NOBODY bothers me and I can just do what I want to do and that's write sweet books!!!!

    Oh mylanta I love Saturdays!!!

  34. Love the WE! I've found so many interesting links. Cannot wait for Speedbo. Am so excited! I would love to win Ruthy's book. A great reward for all the writing I'll be doing this month. If the month goes as planned, I'll then have two almost complete manuscripts to work on and get ready. Then I can put those contest links to work lol. And then get started on another story. This is so much fun!

  35. Woohoo, Speedbo, here we come!!!

I got off to a great start yesterday with over 1500 words on a brand new wip! Hoping Speedbo will speed me on my way!!!

I do have to pause briefly to do final edits on a book due April 1, but I plan to finish it up in the next few days and turn it in early--YIPPEEE!!!!

More interesting links for us to check out--thanks, TINA! And congrats to last week's drawing winners!

  36. I'm trying hard to finish up the last few scenes to write in this draft of this novel. My first goal for SpeedBo is a novella I hope to churn out super fast this week.

[I double checked - Tina I'm not on the SpeedBo 2015 page list :(.]

  37. So happy it's the weekend!!! Congrats to all the winners and good luck to the Speedbo participants! Put my name in the hat for All Dressed Up in Love! I love the Year of Weddings novellas and can't wait to read Ruthy's story :)

  38. Hi Ruth:

You worked 8 years in a bridal shop and it took you, (what 30 books?), and all these years to write about what you knew so well? It was worth the wait -- but why?

Now if I were your agent, I would ask for you to write a magical Christmas sequel so it could be 'reborn again and again' (in a marketing sense) every holiday season! Magic, Romance, Christmas, Weddings: what's not to like?

BTW: I went to your website and it is really pretty! I noticed you have a lot of commentors* over there that I don't see over here. Poachers?

*This in not a legitimate word yet but it will be soon.

P.S. Snow here today just like in my picture. I also just finished "Prairie Promises" and I'm going to write a review because I think that story was worth the price of the whole book. I noticed that you poached on Mary's Nebraska in that story. Are you going to write romantic cowboy comedies next?

  39. Oopsie,Carole. Every now and then I am not perfect.

    I am adding you! Apologies.

  40. Great quotes and links. Thanks, Tina!

Just sent off a workshop proposal for the M&M 2015 Conference. Three Seekers involved. Fingers crossed! Anyone planning to attend?

    Congrats to this week's winners.

The sun is shining in Georgia, which makes me very happy!

Are we all ready for SPEEDBO?

  41. Um, actually, I'm an OSU fan. he he.

  42. My first experience with Speedbo but I'll probably have a slow start. Heading out of town to a prayer conference on Monday and won't be home until Thursday. Hopefully, I can do a little "hotel writing/editing" -- we'll see. :)

  43. Congrats to the winners! Good luck on Speedbo everyone!

  44. Go Jess! Prayer and writing. A powerful combo. Two for one punch.

  45. Hi Tina:

I'm both an OU and OSU fan.

When I came to Oklahoma in 1970 I asked how you can tell an OU fan from an OSU fan. I was told this by many people.

An OU fans roots for OSU to win whenever they are not playing OU. An OSU fan roots for OU to lose no matter who they are playing.

Over 35 years here I've found this to be true!

  46. Gah! Choice book! How can I pick? Hmmmmm.....Speedbo tomorrow, baby....or rather in 2 hours....starting early

  47. I've started Speedboing this morning as March arrived sooner here in Oz then for you guys on the other side of the world!

    Have fun everyone!

My goal was for 500 words per day.

    Today I got 818, so I'm a happy camper!

  48. Congratulations to the 100 Speedbo participants. I'll be rooting you all on this year.

    Write writers write,
    Keep your goals in sight
    Don't do social media now
It's time to write, write write.

Many blessings to you all this moonth during Speedbo.

    Smiles & Blessings,
    Cindy W.

  49. Just got started on Speedbo this morning. Hoping to get a jump start before I head out to church. I'd like to be entered in the chapter critique giveaway. Happy First Day of Speedbo everyone!

  50. Thanks, Tina and Ruthy, for the nice comments.:-)
    You sooo sweet!!

  51. Yeehaw! Saddled up and we're off! Go SpeedBoers, as we march through a new draft or revisions with no limits on what we can accomplish!!

Tina, I love the I'mpossible. Love what one apostrophe can do. :-)

  52. Vince!!!! Didn't you just love Prairie Promises???? And yes, I channeled Mary and stole her historical knowledge because it was prairie focused, but my daughter/editor Beth wants folks to know that I DRAGGED my children to historical stuff when they were young, so the love of history has been lurking a long time...

When I first went to Omaha to annoy Mary, the Prairie Sculpture Garden was one of my favorite things. Amazing to think of what those folks were willing to do... I'm so glad you loved it, you know how much that means to me!

  53. Sally, I'm throwing a bunch of names in right now, even as I draw names from my blog over in Ruthy-land!!!

I'd love to see what people think of this sweet, charming novella "All Dressed Up in Love"!

  54. Jess... Jessy.... Jessie!!!

I play catch up all the time. I'm still working full time so I'm either working ahead... or catching up! You do what you can do and we've got your back!

Writers write, even when life interrupts (and it does!!!)... we get back to writing.

So nice to have you on board!

  55. Mary Hicks said I'm sweet!!!!

I love you so much right now, Mary Hicks!!!! Girlfriends!!!!

  56. Yes, I would love a copy of Ruth's new "Brides" book (and what a beautiful lacy gown she is wearing!) and....

I would also love to be entered in the contest for a first chapter critique.

    Is that greedy?

  57. Next weeks lineup looks great!
I want All Dressed Up in Love: A March Wedding Story please toss me in the hat :) Congrats to this weeks winners !

  58. This is going to be an awesome speedbo! Opening a brand new business tomorrow is just going to make that much more exciting, lol. I don't have too much on plate. Can't wait to get started!

  59. Im excited to start Speedbo! I got the name right this time, Tina. I read some of the book I won from y'all on Writing Faster and Better. Makes sense! I'm alway up for a critique drawing! I need all the help I can get!

  60. MARCH 1, 2015!!!!

And we're off to great start.

    Happy Speedbo-ing to everyone!

  61. I'm needing this Speedbo! If love to have s critique or sn Amazin gift card. Really can you go wrong with either one?

Hope everyone's word count exceeds their goals!

  62. Deanna, throwing your name in the hat/cat dish!!!!

And Dana, not greedy at all! We're here to serve!

  63. I came back today to check out the links and realized I didn't comment!
    Congrats winners!
Good luck to all Speedbo participants!!
Next week's line up looks amazing!
    Please enter me for everything!

  64. This weekend post has energized me! I have been pouring over all the wonderful links too! Thank you so much again for keeping our engines revved up!
Started Speedbo this afternoon and happily passed my dailty goal which means I will be pushing for more later! #NoLimits!

I would love to be in the drawing for Amazon but not quite ready for that chapter one critique, but you are all helping me get there.

Blessings to you all and cheering you on!

  65. Haven't begun SPEEDBO yet, but about to. BTW... "All Dressed Up for Love" is AWESOME!!!!!!!

If I write a review, does that count towards my SPEEDBO goal? Probably not, but was a thought.

Would like to be in the draw for the chapter critique. Off to write...

  66. Love your inspirational posters. Can I pin them on my pinterest board?

  67. Any of our posters, signs and pictures for Speedbo and the our #NoLIMITS year are either made by us or purchased by us and you may use them!

We'd love you to mention us when you do but we won't chase you down if you don't.

    HAVE FUN!!

  68. Ha! Donna, when I read posts and emails on my phone I do that. I think I commented when I have not. I can relate.

  69. Ha! Donna, when I read posts and emails on my phone I do that. I think I commented when I have not. I can relate.

  70. I just read Kelly Bridgewater's comment. She has read and reviewed 48 books since Jan 1.

    I am now slinking away.

  71. I've been #Speedbo-ing (and seeing many writers in Facebook's #1K1HR group who are working hard- Go #Speedbo), so I'm rewarding myself by reading links and comments. I'm thinking positively and read the how to gain readers article. Eek! Speak at public events?!?!

Tina and Mary.....YAY to weddings this year and wedding stories! And more Seeker novella collections! Sandra shared a photo of her setting....beautiful!

Please enter me for the card and the critique.

Now back to plotting! Happy Speedbo writing or reading to everyone! #NoLimits

  72. Hi Cindy W.

I really liked reading your poem first thing this morning! I'm snowed in and my Speedbo material is at my office. I really needed a little cheerleading! If you're not entering Speedbo, I think you'd make a great official cheerleader!

    More poems would be welcome!

  73. God-speed to everyone taking part in the Speedo. I can't, but funnily enough will be hammering away to finish my latest book for that looming deadline.

  74. Hi Ruth:

What I loved most about "Prairie Promises" is how you totally hooked the reader on the first page without blowing anything up and without withholding any backstory. You really showed the amazing power of having instantly sympathetic characters. I think that opening would win a lot of contests.

You also lucked out on the print version because the key words "He's gone" ends the page making it look like a super dramatic chapter ending when it really is not the end of the chapter. That was like getting hit by a left hook that came out of nowhere!

I hope you write more novellas. A paranormal would be really nice.

  75. Well, I did it! The first day of Speedbo and I reached my goal of writing 1,000 words. Actually have 1,029. This book needs a lot of work but this goal is good because I am at least getting it down on paper and it can be revised later.

I would love to be entered into the drawing for the first chapter critique, but I would take an Amazon card, too.

  76. Vince, you're an amazing and wonderful friend.

    I love paranormal/fantasy/sci fi.

How did you know? Because I talk about our friend Ray Bradbury????

When I semi-retire I'm going to finish the paranormal story I've got 1/3 done.... and I want you to love it! Thank you, my friend!!!

  78. Yay! It's Speedbo time!!! I am so excited to participate in Speedbo 2015. Please, throw my name in for the drawings.

Side note: I found out Friday I have to have surgery on my right shoulder. Surgery is scheduled for March 17th. Doc said I should be able to resume normal activity in a couple of days. My goal right now is to try and get two or three days ahead on my word count, so I won't get behind.

    Gotta go...time to write!

  79. I've been #Speedboing on #1K1HR with many of you. Today I wrote 1630 words on my new story. I kept reminding myself the goal is to get the words written, and I can edit later.

I'm so glad I signed up! Have a great evening!

  80. Jackie, wow, way to go! Great way to kick off Speedbo!

  81. Rhonda, ouch. Sorry about the surgery. You'll be laid up some, which of course, gives you TIME TO WRITE!!!

Poor baby. Take care of yourself!

  82. Congratulations to last week's winners.
Please enter my name for the All Dressed Up in Love: A March Wedding Story (A Year of Weddings Novella Book 4) giveaway.

library pat AT com cast DOT net

  83. Sundays are so filled with 3 services at church I really didn't think I would come close to the goal of 1000 a day. But just finished writing 992.

It has been a great day.

  84. WOW. You guys are amazing.

Jackie!! GO GIRL. WILHANI!! you did it!!

And Rhonda is writing in a full body cast. Way to suffer through, dudette.

  85. Jackie, I love seeing you working away like this. It's positively inspiring.

Rhonda... best attitude ever about the shoulder and working ahead. I do that, too, and it means I don't have to worry when life throws me curves because I've built in "flex" time. Go you!!!

  86. OMWow, I love the cover of "All Dressed Up in Love" --that dress is gorgeous. Thanks for the giveaway and congrats to all the winners this week! =)
