Thursday: Laurie Tomlinson's winner of 3 to 5-page short synopsis critique is Jackie Layton.
Monday: You Asked & We Answered! Today we're kicking off a four-part series to address questions you submitted in our survey. Part 1 will be "Conflict and Character Arc." Missy Tippens will share resources to help us learn (or review what we already know) about internal and external conflict as well as handling character arcs. She'll be giving away copies of how-to books for two lucky winners!
Tuesday: You Asked & We Answered! Baffled by social media and other techy stuff? Myra Johnson shares some of the tips and tricks she’s learned along the way. Lots of links to other helpful sources, too! Myra will be giving away a social media how-to guide as well as a copy of one of her books.
Wednesday: Is LiveStream Video (Periscope and Facebook Live) right for you? Well ... if you're looking for a new way to reach your readers and potential fans, Cara Grandle, novelist and host of the weekly Periscope show, Writers Encouragement, has something you will not want to miss! Cara will teach you the ins and the outs of how it’s done, so you can see if it is a good fit for you, including a giveaway of a free video course!
Thursday: You Asked & We Answered! In our survey, you wanted some specific counsel on query letters and proposals, so Ruth Logan Herne takes the helm to answer that request. She'll talk query letters, proposals and what's changed while offering up a critique of a query letter or cover letter for one writer and a copy of "Home on the Range" for a writer or reader!
On January 9th, our very own "Ruthy" Ruth Logan Herne will be featured on Annie's "Just Commonly" blog with some words about "New Beginnings"... and a shout out for the joy of writing cowboy stories! Stop by and chat with Annie and Ruthy as they talk about the kind of stories that stir your heart... and soul.
And on January 21, Ruthy will be the guest speaker at the 2017 inspirational kickoff meeting for Western New York RWA. This delightful local RWA chapter meets in the community room of Sisters of Charity Hospital, St. Josephs's campus at 2605 Harlem Road, Cheektowaga, NY 14225.
CLAIMING MARIAH by Pam Hillman is on sale during the month of January! Grab the link to your favorite retailer HERE.
After her father’s death, Mariah Malone sends a letter that will forever alter the lives of her family. When Slade Donovan, strong willed and eager for vengeance, shows up on her front porch, Mariah is not ready to hear his truths: her father’s farm, the only home she’s ever known, was bought with stolen gold. With Slade ready to collect his father’s rightful claim and force Mariah and her family out on the streets, Mariah must turn to God for guidance. Though Mr. Frederick Cooper, a local landowner, promises to answer her financial woes if she agrees to be his bride, Mariah finds herself drawn instead to the angry young man demanding her home.
Myra Johnson visited Leslie McKee's blog on Friday to chat about her latest release, Castles in the Clouds. Read Leslie's review, join the conversation, and enter the drawing for a book giveaway! Contest is open for 5 more days!
