She rated both as a "MUST DO AGAIN" and that's a little rare for our Ruthy! Stop by Wednesday... Ruthy will be happy to answer questions about the ECPA-sponsored events (Evangelical Christian Publishers Association) and she's got more Christmas book giveaways... See you then, my friends!

Friday: Winnie Griggs is over in Dallas this weekend having a blast at a fun reader con. She'll be by on Friday to tell us all about it and share a writing tip or two.

In Loving Memory
Bonnie Roof

Beloved supporter of Christian fiction, authors and readers, long-time Seekervillager Bonnie Roof went home to Jesus on November 7, 2018. Not only did Bonnie love and promote authors whenever she could, she was also a faithful prayer warrior. With Seekers Annie & Carrie, she started the Christian Fiction Readers Retreat in 2016, and they personally counted her a dear friend. One that will not easily be forgotten and whose impact will be felt for years to come. Earth is emptier, but oh the rejoicing in heaven as she dances with her Savior.

Condolences can be left for the family HERE

  1. Now I'm weepy... that picture of Mary, Carrie, Bonnie and me from the first Christian Fiction Readers Retreat... it was a dream come true for Bonnie. She longed for a platform that would bring authors and readers of Christian fiction together and Carrie, Annie and Beth Erin made it happen... Huge thanks to them and all the back-scenes folks that make that happen, including husbands! They made a woman's dream come true and began a tradition that burns so brightly.

Bonnie will be missed... but oh, how she gave as she lived! Contagious joy was her middle name.

Carrie... thank you for posting this!

  2. Yes, Bonnie will be missed! What a joy for her, though, that not only is she rejoicing in heaven, but that her earthly desire for the Christian Fiction Readers Retreat became a reality and she was able to participate. She was a woman who touched many lives.

And this WE is packed full, isn't it? I can't wait until next week when we hear from Ruthy and Winnie about their experiences in the wide world of writing!

I'm writing this morning, then heading to my part-time seasonal job this afternoon. Santa is coming!!!

    Have a great Saturday, everyone!

    1. I'm excited to talk about this new opportunity on Wednesday! It will be fun... and I'll talk between baking and making jam for the Sisters of St. Joseph annual Christmas Sale... We get to donate lots of delicious farm goodies for the sisters sale and it's so much fun to go to the Motherhouse and see so many sweet faces. God is good!

  4. A sweet, lovely tribute to precious Bonnie Roof. I was so very blessed to meet her at the first CFRR, and then corresponded with her after that. Such an amazing lady. She will be missed by so many, and I'm praying for her family.

RUTHY!! SO proud of you being a Christy Finalist (yes, my kitties and I were gathered around the computer cheering for you during the event!). You truly are an inspiration to me and many others. :)

Happy Weekend, my friends! Stay safe and warm.
In my Georgia neighborhood, it's a gorgeous sunny day with very chilly temps - - I love it! (I am NOT a summer person, LOL)

    Hugs, Patti Jo

    1. I am revelling in the cooler temps, too! Planning outdoor Christmas stuff before our first significant snow and wind and all that... no sense waiting for a blizzard to hook up lights!

Patti Jo, you are such a blessing. I love you!!!!

  5. Bonnie was a special lady who loved the Lord and exuded that love wherever she went. I was blessed to meet her at the first CFRR and reconnected at the second event. We kept in touch through cards, letters and emails, and she was always on my heart and in my prayers. She leaves behind an amazing legacy as CFRR continues--thanks to the other co-founders: Carrie, Annie and Beth--to bring readers and writers together, touching lives and spreading joy, which is what Bonnie always did. Like many of you, I grieve her passing but rejoice, knowing she is home with Jesus!

Ruthy, so proud of your Christy nomination! What an honor! Love the pics! So glad Carrie and Beth could be there as well.

I'm excited about the new releases! Yay, Mary and Missy!

Congrats to the winners this week!

  7. Wow! So many fun things happening in Seekerville! Congrats to everyone on their new releases.

And I was so blessed to have met Bonnie at CFRR 2017. What a wonderful lady. I know she will be missed, but I am happy knowing that she is at peace now.

  8. Condolences to Bonnie's family. What a blessing to know how many lives she touched beautifully!

Oh myyyy. The Art of Writing Conference and Christy Awards were even better this year than last if it's possible.

Why YES it IS possible because I got to meet, live and in person, Ruthy, Beth and Heather... And several others.

We learned SO much. I tell you, Donald Miller started us off with an hour on this topic: https://www.amazon.com/Building-StoryBrand-Clarify-Message-Customers/dp/0718033329

WAWZAH. That's a MUST read... I took 9 PAGES of notes, writing as fast as I could. Thankfully we were all gifted a copy of the book. Can't wait to delve in, but I'm reading "A Light So Lovely" - another Christy finalist. The author held a wonderful session on making our books last beyond ourselves...

    And on and on...

At the dinner, I sat with 2 ladies from Bible Society Australia/Acorn Press, and another lady who handles the Spanish division of a major publisher (mostly translations she said), a literary agent and a copy editor/proofreader, with whom I'm to have lunch on Monday.

We got to CHEER RUTHY and HEATHER on, as well as several others... See Chris Fabry inducted into the Hall of Fame, listen to Charles Martin and Francine Rivers... Hear from Jerry Jenkins... On it went.

Y'all come next year! Still a glow from this year and SO many books in my possession now to savor. FAB!

Debby - great cover! All the best to you with your newest!

Take care everyone, enjoy rest of the weekend!

    1. KC, how exciting that you attended the Christy Awards. Sounds as if you go each year. I'm only four hours from Nashville. Something to consider for next year! Would love to meet in person!

    2. Kc, I was so excited to meet you and now I've got my very own MAY the CANINE SPY dog! :) What a kind and giving heart you've got, and a personality that fills a room. An absolute pleasure to meet in person!

    3. And my goal is to attend next year again, with or without a finaling book.... it was a great way to connect with people. Publishers... readers... bloggers... and other writers. Such a wonderfully crafted experience!

  9. It's going to be a cold one on this Sunday. When I woke up the inside temp was 61. I have since turned on 3 tiny space heaters and it has now increased to 64. Outside it is 23. Cold has come to the South.

Looking forward to a great day at church. I'm teaching children's church and Master Clubs.

I loved watching the Christy Awards live on facebook. I was hoping to get a chance to see Ruthy. Thanks for all the pictures.

    2. Well, darlin', you have to WIN to get on camera, LOL! Another time, maybe??? But I was so very happy just to final, that was an amazing thing to me... Forever going forward I am now a "Christy Award Finalist"... and that's a nice blip on my resume! :)

Why is it so cold there??? You're in the mountains, aren't you? Stay warm, Wilani! Grab those sweaters!

    3. Yes I am in the mountains. They were calling for snow this next week.

I will admit that the category you were in Ruthy also had one of the authors whose street team I am on. I wanted both you and Heather to win. I am also on Becky Wade's team. You're right it is a great honor just to be a finalist.

I had to laugh today with my preschoolers. One of them prayed for Christmas to hurry up and get here!

Now I am getting ready to teach Master Clubs tonight and then if time I'll get in a nap.

I hope to be able to write after church tonight.

While sitting in the adult Sunday School Class two more story ideas popped in my head. I jotted down the ideas on the pad of paper I keep in my purse. I want to flesh them out a little more but they must wait until later.

    "Contagious joy!"

What a wonderful tribute. I've had much to thank Seeker prayer warriors over the years. Could someone please tell me what name Bonnie used on her posts here at Seekerville?
