Night Classes

 Welcome to Seekerville's 2014 Online Night Classes 

Seekerville Online Classes are wholly managed by the individual instructor. No part of your tuition goes to Seekerville. Classes are paid for via PayPal only, and go directly to the instructor. There are no refunds for classes. Class e-vites are issued before class begins. Enrollment will continue until classes are filled or until class begins.

Enrollment is now an easy one-step process. 

1. Send payment via PayPal to the PayPal address listed with the class. Add class name and YOUR name somewhere in the message box.

  At the end of the class Seekerville will be sending you a class survey.

About the class: Writers, do your characters fall flat on the page? Want to make them come alive for your readers? Authors Myra Johnson and Dora Hiers will teach you how to create memorable, three-dimensional characters who will live in your readers’ minds long after the story ends.

Introduction: Meet Dora and Myra. Overview of the class.

Lesson 1: Fictional characters you remember best. Story roles and archetypes.

Lesson 2: Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and character development.

Lesson 3: Which comes first, plot or character?

Lesson 4: Give your character a face, a name, and a past. Give your character flaws, but also make your character likable.

Lesson 5: Give your character a goal, conflict, and motivation. Give your character power and consistency.

Lesson 6: Putting it all together.

Class will consist of an introduction and 6 lessons (2 per week for 3 weeks). Handouts will include character creation resources from the Web and a list of craft books on characterization. Lessons will be presented as a combination of emailed lectures and videos.

Lessons are posted twice a week for three (3) weeks.

Instructor Bios: 


Dora Hiers
After a successful auditing career, Dora left the corporate world to be a stay-at-home mom to her two sons. When her youngest son didn’t want her hanging out at school with him anymore, Dora started writing Heart Racing, God-Gracing romance. Dora is a member of Romance Writers of America, and is the Treasurer for the Charlotte Chapter of American Christian Fiction Writers. Dora and her husband, her real life hero, call North Carolina home.

Myra Johnson
Award-winning author Myra Johnson writes Christian romance and women’s fiction—emotionally gripping stories about love, life, and faith. A native Texan, Myra and her husband moved to the Carolinas in 2011 and currently share their home with two very spoiled lapdogs. Myra is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers and currently serves as president of ACFW-Charlotte Chapter. She also belongs to Romance Writers of America and the online RWA chapter Faith, Hope & Love. Myra is represented by the Natasha Kern Literary Agency.
