Monday:  Jan Drexler talked about balancing your life and writing, and we shared a lot of great ideas! Be sure to read all the comments if you haven't already. Some of you Seeker-villagers had some wonderful ideas! And the winner of a copy of The Sound of Distant Thunder is Janet E. (Library Lady)!!! Congratulations!

Wednesday:  Melanie Dickerson expounded what it means to Write Your Feelings, using examples from her new Southern Historical Romance, Magnolia Summer. The winner of a paperback copy of Magnolia Summer is Sandy Smith, and winner of an e-copy is Vince. Congrats!

Friday: Pam Hillman dusts off a post on Memes, Monkeys and Me: Photo Editing and Graphic Design for Amateurs which originally aired in Seekerville in 2013. At that time some of us didn't know what a meme was, and others thought it was pronounced memE (ahem). Who doesn't need a refresher on this timely topic??

    1. Wilani, I don't think I would be as active as you are if I had bronchitis. You are a trooper.
What age Sunday School do you teach?

  2. It has been a great week in the Village with helpful posts and I am especially looking forward to Erica's post on pitch appointments. With ACFW Nashville less than a month away, it could not have come at a better time.

  3. Good links today, I appreciated the Janice Hardy one which shows what makes up an effective story. Nothing I haven't heard here, but good to hear it in a fresh voice.

    1. Praying for you, Wilani! Let us know what the doctor says. Allergic reactions are so scary.

    2. Hi Wilani:

My wife has had the same problem and has been to the ER several times. Doctors do not know what causes the outbreak but they gave her three pills at the ER each time and told her to take these same pills as soon as the first symptoms present. She has those three pills in her car, purse, bedside chest, and other places. I have some in my car.

If there are pills that work in your case, you might want to get their names and carry them with you at all times. I believe my wife's pills are all over the counter.

If you can't breathe, you will soon die.

If you can get a head start on this problem you can often avoid the trip to the ER.

This may be worth looking into. Hope all is well now.

      Vince

    3. It ended up not being an allergic reaction. On Thursday I realized I had thrush in my mouth from the steroids for the bronchitis. I called the doctor and he called in lozenges. I have been doing that since then. Then all of a sudden my throat, ears, and nose felt like they were on fire. Come to find out the thrush had moved deep into my throat. When I got to the hospital I also had mild chest pains so had to wait 4 hours for them to be sure all was okay with the heart. I am sure the chest pains were just stress related. The doctor changed my medicine but I still have to take one more steroid pill in the morning which causes the thrush.

On a brighter note I was listening and observing all that was happening. I wasn't given a call button or blanket and thought I would freeze. Hmm something else to add to one of my scenes. Oh and I could hear everything the doctor and nurses were discussing at the desk. Pretty sure that is not supposed to happen. Any way they had a patient who was both suicidal and homicidal. This hospital is in a small town and they don't deliver babies any more so the ambulance arrived to transport a mother to a larger hospital. So I suppose it wasn't a wasted trip, but what a way to do research.

I am home now with still a very sore throat and feeling drained. Now to find something soft to eat and then get ready to teach tomorrow. The Lord is good all the time.

    1. You must be so proud of them. I remember going to the state or regional championships ten years ago, and those kids are so good! It's real baseball!!!!

I see Hawaii beat Georgia, but Deb.... I'm so happy that they got to have that experience. It's literally a once-in-a-lifetime thing, to play in Williamsport like that!

    Romance

Came in the mail yesterday. The Septermber 3rd issue, page 42. Five star short!

I see a trend in WW to romances between older people whose children are grown and who are empty nesters.

    "Demographics is destiny."

Be sure to subscribe to Tina's newsletter and get the inside scoop on 'closed' events coming up. If you want to publish in WW, you won't want to miss these events! (That's all I can disclose.)

  11. "Happy Dance"

I won a Kindle copy of "Magnolia Summer" -- a book I've had more comments about over the last two weeks than any un-released romance.

Can't wait to read how everything works out. This is a very different book for the author. First books and ventures into new sub-genres are favorites of mine.

    It's always an adventure.

    Thanks,

    Vince

    1. Melanie has such a gift. I remember reading her work in a contest long before either of us were published and knowing she was going to be wonderful... her slant on things is created with a unique beauty.

Lucky you, my friend! I have to buy my copy!!! ;)

  12. What a fun Weekend Edition! And the Yankees won today and it's 4 to 0 right now in Baltimore, so they might win tonight...

Which means I'm in a good mood and there are winners everywhere!!!

    :)

Congratulations to winners.... and what a fun week we had checking out memes (which I stink at) and emotions/feelings (which I'm very good at!) and all the cool stuff that came with Jan's post about balance and getting the job done.

This is a self-directed profession, especially these days when indie publishing allows us some great opportunities that never existed before.... So learning how to balance life, work and time (and devote time to work) is clutch!

We're having a triple birthday party tomorrow at Beth's for Xavier, Finn and Lena, all born within four weeks of each other... Cakes are made... and family fun awaits.

    How blessed are we????
