    "While I do love you, Mary, to answer that question I'd need to know if we are in a character-driven novel or a plot-driven novel."

    "But…Robert... don't you know, deep down, if you are a character-driven character or not?"

    "My motivation, Mary, is not the question. The real questions are these: 'who is doing the driving?' and 'is the author a pantser or a plotter?'"

    "Yes…but didn't Einstein say that 'God doesn’t play dice with the universe?'"

    "Einstein said it and God knows better than to do it, however, does our author?"
