One of my absolute favorite things about being a writer is the sense of community.Whether it's in the form of individual friendships found and nurtured, large conferences, daily sprint partners, or prayer warriors, other writers are always there to lift us up. Nowhere is that more evident than when someone is going through a difficult time.
I've certainly benefited from that sense of community and I hope you have too. Today we have the chance to help lift a fellow writer. Some of you may know that Lisa Jordan sadly lost her beloved mother just over a week ago. Needless to say, through her mother's illness and this period of mourning, promoting her new book was one of the last things on Lisa's mind. So her fellow authors have jumped in to help.
Today is my chance to focus a spotlight on Lisa's wonderful new book. Rescuing her Ranch is on the shelves now, but three of you will be lucky enough to win a copy here today!
Welcome to Stone River Ranch. Rescuing her Ranch is Book 1 in the new series.
A fight for her future…
Might not be the one she thinks.
Returning home after losing her job, Macey Stone agrees to care for the daughter of old friend Cole Crawford. Then she discovers that Cole’s uncle’s company wants to bulldoze her family’s land. Seeing the devoted dad with his child soon has her falling for the enemy. But can she choose between saving Stone River Ranch…and helping the man who’s stolen her heart?
From Love Inspired: Uplifting stories of faith, forgiveness and hope.
When I asked Lisa if she wanted to say anything to our readers today, she replied that her mother "was a joy and a light in my life. I love how my LI sisters have come alongside me. I plan to return the favor. Our community is one of the many reasons I love writing for Love Inspired."
Do you have any stories of writer friendships or how writer friends have lifted you? Please share. I'll get us started.
When my husband was dying, my Yankee Belle Cafe partners jumped in and covered all most posts for months, digging into the archives for some of my favorite recipes. It was an tremendous help to me to have my posts covered, but also just to know there were friends looking out for me, caring to check in, praying for me and my family. It made a world of difference.
Please let us know if you would like to be entered in the drawing for a copy of Lisa's book.
US residents only for the print book.
Cate, such a great post of how community comes together! I would love to be entered in the drawing for a copy of Lisa's book. Two of my favorite things on the cover of this book: snow and horses! Sounds like a great story! It's so hard losing someone close to us. The first of this year, in three weeks I had three funerals to attend, two family members and one close friend. A good friend of mine stepped in and took me out to eat and spent time with me, just to let me talk, knowing I was going through a hard time. Sometimes we just need someone to talk to or just to be there with a hug. That's what a community is for!ReplyDelete
Sally, I'm so sorry for all your losses. They are hard enough individually, but to have 3 so close together. I will be keeping you in my prayers. I'm so glad you had a friend to care for you. Thank you for sharing.Delete
Oh, and yes, the snow and horse got my attention too.Delete
I don't know why all my comments are showing up as Anonymous. It seems to be a new problem with Firefox. I switched to Google.Delete
Sally, I'm so very sorry for your losses. I'm so glad you have a support system in place to help you walk through your grief. I'll be praying for you.Delete
Thanks so much, Lisa. Praying for you and your family as well. Support systems are so important.Delete
Rescuing her Ranch sounds like my kind of book!!!ReplyDelete
Sure does, Mary, but I'm imagining petticoats and rifles.Delete
Thanks, Mary. :) My book is a couple of centuries later than your wonderful stories. :)Delete
Supporters are so important! God had called us to love one another and Christ told us that even if we did anything to help others it was the same as helping Him. So glad there are still so many people in the world that do this for each other. Too bad we don’t hear about it more often!ReplyDelete
I would love to be entered in the giveaway. Lisa is a new author to me and this book sounds wonderful!
Thank you so much! :) I agree--when we show love, we are showing Jesus.Delete
Thank you so much for stopping by. I've read this book, and promise it's every bit as good as it sounds!ReplyDelete

This looks like a good book. Please put me in the drawing. I'm so sorry about the loss of your mom, Lisa. It is hard. I lost my mom five years ago next month.ReplyDelete
Hi Sandy, It's so hard. I'm sorry for your loss as well. We are lucky to be able to receive support, but also so lucky to be able to give it.Delete
Sandy, thank you. Losing my mom is the hardest thing I've had to endure. But God is good and continues to walk with us each step of the way.Delete
The bookish community is remarkable - readers, writers, those in the publishing industry! I'm so sorry for Lisa's loss of her dear mother, but I'm glad she feels supported. The bookish community was absolutely remarkable at the losses of my brother and my dad. Prayers, encouragement, gifts - they just flooded me with love and I'm so grateful.ReplyDelete
A sign of how truly loved you are within this community, Pepper. Sending love and support again.Delete
Pepper, you've been on my heart so often over the last year. I've been praying for your family as you've walked through your grief. <3Delete

My sibling is my writing cheer squad. When I finished my first book, they made such a big deal about it, (more than it deserved, in hindsight). But it felt so amazing-- like I was a real writer! If it hadn't been for their enthusiastic support of my first efforts, I would probably never have gone on to write two more books. And I'm still writing!
Oh how wonderful, Abby. Having a cheering squad is awesome. I'm glad they kept you writing.Delete
I'd like to be entered in the drawing! This looks like a great book!ReplyDelete
What a great cover!!! Thanx for the giveaway!!! Prayers for Lisa's family.ReplyDelete
Now it let me be me!Delete
