A not-really-written blog by Seekers at the Christian Fiction Readers Retreat in Baltimore!

This is not a writing conference.

Is all about joining up authors with you guys... readers... the ones that read our books and love our stories and love us and want to hang out and find out more and, well... you get it... it's about books!

And readers...

And writers....

Beth Jamison (beloved daughter and my indie editor for all of my independently published work) and I drove down from Western New York.... many are flying in. Some are driving in. We're all here for a Friday night Meet-and-Greet and an all-day Saturday fun time of prayer, praise, laughter, joy, maybe a tear or two... and a chance to talk and laugh together over a favorite subject: Books! We'll post pics as we get them, but today we're in set-up phase.... and tonight is meet-and-greet.... and we wish every one of you could be here, writers and readers alike!

Maybe next year! Or the one after...

In the meantime, we'll share the fun with you via Seekerville!!!! Here are some pics from the trip down through Pennsylvania and through Maryland (where spring has arrived!!! WE FOUND SPRING!!!!)

A little gathering at Panera with Tina Marie Sinclair, Deb Marvin, Ruth Logan Herne, Beth Jamison and Winnie Thomas

Here's a tree in full bloom!!!! (forgive me, this is Ruthy and you know spring is about two weeks off in the cold, cold north!!!  But I keep rotating this photo and the GOOGLE GREMLINS won't let it stay, so lie down and look at this one sideways... Oh Mylanta!!!!

Ruthy and Beth at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Shrine outside of Gettysburg, PA.....

Grrr...... The rest of the pictures are all coming through upside down or sideways and it is too late at night to fight with Blogger.... today we'll hit up Starbucks and Krispy Kreme (health food conscious as always....

And then we're helping organize some things for tomorrow....

And then the Meet and Greet tomorrow evening...

And I have noticed that when I do selfies, my short arms keep me way too close to the camera and my nose looks big.

It is a distinct notation that when I start rambling about big noses, it is time for sleep... We'll pop in later with more pictures, friends!

  1. One day, one day I will make it to one of these. Sounds like so much fun! Loved the pics and am looking forward to seeing more. Even the ones the blogger gremlins hijack :))

    1. Pat, isn't that the funniest thing? I took the pics on my phone, sent them to my e-mail and then to Blogger... and it won't keep them right side up! Good morning, lovely lady! And you would love, love, love this experience and we would love to see you!!!!

  2. Sounds like a great time! Have fun enough for all of us at home.

  3. We wouldn't be anything without readers, which I hope to have some day. I have noticed that the relationship between Christian readers and Christian writers, especially those associated with Seekerville, is closer and more satisfying than with secular writers. Like there's that extra layer that knits us together. Mixed metaphor, but you get it, right?
I would love to have gone but my budget only allows for one conference a year. Maybe next year. My one conference THIS year is ACFW San Antonio, and I'm already chomping at the metaphorical bit. Husband going with me, late 40th/early 50th anniversary trip, and promises to keep busy in the daytime so I can have one-on-one with my Peeps.
Doing errands and catch-up today, but it's okay because I'm making reasonable progress on my writing projects.
    Making it work in NH

  4. I wish I could be there!! I hope you all have a blessed time together. I look forward to more photos that will make me jealous! :)

  5. I'm so jealous! Wish I was there and can't wait to see all the lovely photos!!

Also, I got all twitchy wanting to rotate that photo, but since you told people to turn their computers sideways to view it, I decide to let it lie(lay, laid... whatever. Where's Grammar Queen when I need her???). This can be our wake-up photo for the day. :)

  6. So excited to spend the weekend with Ruthy & so many wonderful authors, readers, reviewers, and others in the world of Christian Fiction!

  7. Ooh, looks like such fun! Enjoy your time and safe travels!

  8. I had so much fun at the first CFRR in Nashville a few years ago! What a wonderful opportunity to spend time with the folks we love best!

Have fun, and eat some Krispy Kreme donuts for me!

  9. Have fun and keep safe! Looking forward to more pics!

  10. What?

That's where things disappear into an abyss and are never heard from again!

That's what might be called a rapture in the fabric of reality!

Maybe that recalcitrant sideways picture is a sign! Yes, we can pray with you but maybe it would be better to pray for you!

BTW: Is anyone going to wear a period custom Saturday? I'd love to see Ruth in an Annie Oakley outfit! Don't laugh. Billy the Kid was born in New York City!

Please post photos soon so we know you are all all right!

P.S. *Maybe the "Triple Crown of Christian Fiction" would be more in keeping with the spirit of the event. :)

    1. Hahahahaha! I am sticking with my "Bermuda Triangle" analogy. :) And I have had my SECOND Krispy Kreme donut! One last night, one today... oh be still my heart!!!!!

    2. Bermuda it Stays!

Okay, be steadfast in your analogy! Given double Krispy Kremes, you can face anything! As for me, I believe, "Triple Crown," is an analogy with deep spiritual insights as in three independent victories which comprise the one true title, Triple Crown, a trinity trifecta, as it were, with more sparkle than St. Patrick's shamrock.

  11. Ruthy, thanks for letting us travel along with you. So fun to see all those smiling faces. I'm looking forward to more to come as you all celebrate Christian fiction with amazing people. Plus the virtual food always fascinates me. Krispy Kreme donuts...please!

  12. Ruthy, I wish I could be there. I want to go someday. I hope this can come to the middle part of the country next time so it would be closer for me. Have lots of fun!

  13. Sounds like such fun! We need to have one in Canada!!! Hahahaha

  14. Be sure to check the Weekend Edition for more photos!

  15. What a blessing it would be to attend. Looks like a lot of fun.
