Well, we'll know in about two weeks. I mean, getting the shot and getting the flu too, well, that's like 'double or nothing'. A little prayer might be in order. Actually, it's always in order. But you know what I mean.

Vince, hopefully the shot will provide a bit of protection from the flu. If only we had a vaccine for the new coronavirus. The medical side of my brain is enthralled and eagerly reading all stories about the outbreak. My writer brain is thinking of possible scenarios for future stories, and the remaining part of me is praying we all remain safe and virus free.

Between Friends!
I just read a great Christmas novella! Wonderful. Except I did regret that it was not a novel. I think as a novel it would have been an easy win for a Carol or Rita or Ruby. Moreover, the reading pleasure was so pronounced that I wanted the story to last a lot longer! While it would have taxed me a few extra tears, it would have been worth it.
However, there was this loose thread that did not come in at the end but rather near the start of the book. This loose thread bounced around noisily in my mind like a ten foot chain being dragged behind a car bumper.
Let me explain: the heroine gets caught in a blizzard and the car gets stuck in a snow bank. She abandons the car and dredges her way, at big risk, to a light which turns out to be a distant Inn.
Days go by in the snowed-in small town but there is no mention of the car! Was it stolen? Did it catch on fire? Did a truck crash into it as the snow cleared? Did the county impound it? Or was the author being tricky? Was the car going to play an important role in a surprise twist of the plot?
Nope. Nothing so dramatic. All that phychic energy expended for naught. Very Greek. It seems a deus ex machina took care of the car!
Writer Suggestion:
Do a loose thread and loose end edit. Just a quick pass looking for only these two things. That would be very friendly.

I feel your frustration, Vince. I read a book some years back that set everything up for a dramatic climax involving a bad guy introduced early in the story. I expected that scene to develop and anticipated what might happen. Yet, the early villain evaporated, seemingly, into thin air. Much to my disappointment. :)
