Sunday Scripture & Prayer Requests

The Seekerville bloggers are praying for YOU and for our entire blog community. If you have any special intentions that need additional prayer coverage, leave a request for prayer in the comment section below.

Please join us in praying for our country--and the world--during
this coronavirus outbreak.

Dear Lord, protect us and keep us
free from COVID-19 infection. Help all who are working hard to
contain the spread of this virus, especially those
in the healthcare professions and those caring for the sick.
Give clarity and right judgement to the National and State
Task Forces, the CDC, NIH and  Public Health
agencies combating this outbreak.
Guard all of us and especially our elderly and immunocompromised.
Bring healing to those who have the disease, Eternal Glory to those
who have succumbed to the virus and
comfort to the families who have lost loved ones.
God bless us, and God bless the United States of America.
Amen.

We are so grateful for all of you—for your friendship and your support!
May the Lord bless you and your families abundantly throughout this
Easter Season.

FOURTH SUNDAY OF LENT
GOOD SHEPHERD SUNDAY

Jesus said:
“Amen, amen, I say to you,
whoever does not enter a sheepfold through the gate
but climbs over elsewhere is a thief and a robber.
But whoever enters through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep.
The gatekeeper opens it for him, and the sheep hear his voice,
as the shepherd calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
When he has driven out all his own,
he walks ahead of them, and the sheep follow him,
because they recognize his voice.
But they will not follow a stranger;
they will run away from him,
because they do not recognize the voice of strangers.”
Although Jesus used this figure of speech,
the Pharisees did not realize what he was trying to tell them.

So Jesus said again, “Amen, amen, I say to you,
I am the gate for the sheep.
All who came before me are thieves and robbers,
but the sheep did not listen to them.
I am the gate.
Whoever enters through me will be saved,
and will come in and go out and find pasture.
A thief comes only to steal and slaughter and destroy;
I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly.”
John 10:1-10

  1. Oh, Debby, thank you for this. Such a beautiful set of readings today, and this plain-spoken Gospel is so clear today... we sheep have our eyes trained on Christ's words as our Savior, but I wonder if it sorrowed him that the men in power brushed his words aside... at least until they either felt pangs of guilt or fear that his words would draw people "sheep" away from the temples and into a new Christ-centered faith in God.

I'm pretty sure they wanted to protect their status quo, as people in power often do.

But we the people are the power. We are the gifts of the Lord here on Earth. We are filled with the Holy Spirit.

Thank you for the beautiful posting and I know all Seekers will join in prayer for any intentions posted here. And my prayer request today is to help clear minds and heads and souls from senseless chatter and give us the strength to be the best people we can be in any set of circumstances.

  3. Thank you for sharing this wonderful post today.
Can you please pray for my mother in law. Agnes.
She is in the hospital right now. She has an infection in her knee and she is having problems that the doctors can not find reasons/solutions to. My husband is her care giver and they wont let him in the hospital. Understood but frustrating.
Can you also pray for peace for my husband in this difficult situation.
    Thank you so much.
