SURVEY/GIVEAWAY: CAN A COZY MYSTERY BE TOO COZY?
By Julie Lessman
HELLO, SEEKERVILLE!
It is soooo good to be back with you, both as an alum and a guest blogger. When
I first became one of the original Seekers way back when (uh, we won’t go into
how far back that was, all right?), I always liked to do teaching blogs because
there was SO much I had to learn as an author, that I truly appreciated when
seasoned authors shared their insights.
Ahem.
But … I just wrote my very first “cozy mystery,” so when it comes to romantic suspense, trust me, I am anything but “seasoned.” Which is why I am asking for input from you—truly seasoned readers—in a quick survey that will not only enter you to win your choice of a signed paperback copy of my new cozy mystery, The Secret of Emerald Cottage OR an e-copy along with three other e-copies of my books, BUT a character named after you in my next book as well, A Hope and a Prayer (book 2 in The Cousins O’Connor series), which releases early next year.
So, I need your help. Because you see, I was the one arguing with my husband because I did not want to watch the Hallmark mystery
movies since I like the accent mark on romance, not mystery. But when we ran
out of regular Hallmark romance movies, I was forced to watch things
like—horror of horrors—Aurora Teagarden
and Murder 101 (can anyone say,
“hubba-hubba, Polaha-ha-ha,” as my hubby calls him?). And you know what? I found out that I actually
really liked them!
But … (knee-knocking here) … could I write one??
Okay, sure, maybe I can write a pretty mean kissing scene (I invite you to check out the KISSES, KISSES, KISSES tab of my website to see how “mean”) because back in the day when CBA kissing scenes were far tamer than mine, some even tossed the nickname, “The Kissing Queen” my way. But I’m happy to say that today in the CBA, there’s an entire royal kingdom of “Kissing Queens”—thank God!—many of whom are right here on Seekerville.
And no question that after writing 25 “passionate” family-saga
romance books, I can certainly share a thing or two about how to get more
passion power into your prose, such as in this Seeker blog I wrote entitled, “More
BANG for Your Buck: Making Your Words Work for You!”
But romantic suspense?
Gulp. Not easily, trust me. Suddenly I found myself happier
when I was writing romance scenes over the mystery ones because, hey, romance
is my lifeblood as an author. So what did I do? The only thing I could do—I
ditched the 80/20 formula for 50/50.
So … are you ready for 50/50? There’s only way to find out.
By taking the following survey:
SURVEY:
1.)
Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense
reader?
2.)
If both, what percentage of each?
3.)
If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would
50/50 turn you off?
4.)
If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50
be enough? 😍
Just copy and paste
the questions above into your comment and answer each one. If you do, you
will automatically be entered into my contest to win your choice of a signed
paperback copy of The Secret of Emerald
Cottage OR an e-copy along with three other e-copies of my books, AND a
character named after you in my next book, A
Hope and a Prayer (book 2 in The Cousins O’Connor series), which releases
early next year..
EXTRA GIVEAWAY:
Watch the “killer” video/trailer below that my talented
hubby made for The Secret of Emerald
Cottage, let me know what you think via comment below, and I’ll enter you to
win one of three e-copies of my very first mystery.
So, what is The Secret
of Emerald Cottage all about? I’m glad you asked. Here’s a short blurb:
COZY ROMANCE MEETS NOT-SO-COZY MURDER.
An international soccer-star playboy butts heads with his
aunt’s pretty prude of a nurse when he discovers not only did somebody try to murder
his Aunt Lilly, but her Emerald Cottage home contains a secret that might just
kill them all.
And HERE’S the “killer” VIDEO/TRAILER!
For a sneak peek at the first chapter AND more pix of the
smokin’ hot hero, hop on over to my BLOG.
Then let the survey begin and GOOD LUCK!
Hugs,
Julie

1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader? I enjoy both! Romance can have it's own suspense!
ReplyDelete2.) If both, what percentage of each? 60/40 maybe. Depends what's going on in my life at the time. Do I need to escape for a bit or make my mind figure things out!

4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? 😍 Sure! Keeps me engaged and wanting more!
Oh, Judy, what a great statement -- "Romance can have it's own suspense!" You nailed it, girlfriend, so here's hoping you nail a win as well!
DeleteHugs,
Julie
Julie, I didn't answer the survey, but 50/50 is fine for me. I have already pre-ordered so no need for putting me in the drawing. And I love the Hallmark Mysteries. My husband and I started watching them a year or so ago and I am recording all the marathons the channel has. (And I agree about Polaha-ha-ha! He is my favorite). It is so good to see you back here.
ReplyDeleteAh, Sandy ... a woman after my own heart with Polaha-ha-ha!! That boy makes my heart sing, which kind of surprises me because I've always been a bad-boy type of girl, and he is way more sweet, respectful, and kind than any bad boy I've ever seen (or written, for that matter, except maybe Abraham Hughes in Surprised by Love, I guess.
DeleteThanks SO much for pre-ordering, my friend, and I hope you enjoy it.
Hugs,
Julie
KATE! You're my kind of gal, my friend, so thank you for your response. You are in the draw, girl, so here's to a win!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Julie
1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader?
ReplyDeletePrimarily Romance (although I don't mind a good mystery sprinkled in) ;)
2.) If both, what percentage of each?
I would say 50/50 is a good percent.
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off?
Nope
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? 😍
Yes,I think it's a good balance. (Although 51/50 in favor of the romance wouldn't hurt. ;) )
Hope my survey answers helped Julie. I'm so excited and happy for you on the release of your first cozy mystery!! I'm so happy that the romance in a mystery is having it's chance to shine and that your expert author skills are bringing it to us. Bravo for a job well done!!
Love and Hugs!! <3
LYNNE!! You always brighten my day, my friend, and you made me smile with your comment, "51/50 in favor of the romance wouldn't hurt." Good to know! ;) Thanks for all of your incredible support, girl -- you are and continue to be a true blessing!
DeleteHugs and more hugs,
Julie
Julie, how exciting! Suspense from Julie Lessman! Love the trailer! Romantic suspense is my favorite genre and 50/50 is perfect. I know readers will enjoy Emerald Cottage. Did I miss when it will release? Congrats!
ReplyDeleteGood to see you back in Seekerville. As they say in the South, don't be a stranger.
DEB!! I thought of you A LOT while I was writing this book and over and over again marveled at your incredible ability to weave a heart-pounding romantic suspense!
DeleteI am SO excited to be back in Seekerville because I miss you all more than I can say! And thank you for your email (I am SO behind on those!) and your kind comment about the trailer. And, uh, no you didn't miss the release date because I forgot to mention it AND the fact that people can preorder at a $2 discount till the release date of 9/20. Sigh. I thought I had covered all the bases, but I guess not. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Hugs!!
Julie
Julie! I am so happy for you! When I saw your name come up on the Seekerville calendar, I was thrilled, and couldn't wait to see what you had to say. Boy am I shocked! You write such perfect romance, I can't imagine you changing a thing. But, I am sure you will excel at it, and have a great time along the way.
ReplyDeleteBTW-My granddaughter, Cheyenne, was over the top with the personalized name plates you sent for your books. Thank you so much. Now, help me pray that between God and your fictional characters, it will be a big influence in her life.
1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader?
Mostly romance, but occasionally feel the need for a good Mary Higgins Clark experience.
2.) If both, what percentage of each?
65% Romance / 35% Suspense
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off?
Absolutely not. My husband calls the ones with romance mixed, a 'chick flick', but I crave a mix.
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? 😍
Yes, most definitely.
I do pray and wish the best for you, my friend. We need more people like you to help young people stay interested in God's goodness...not preachy or judgemental, just good clean, very interesting reads, that they can apply to their own lives.
LYNNE!! SO fun to reconnect with you here, my friend! And I ABSOLUTELY I will pray that God and my fictional characters will be a big influence in her life! Writing it on my prayer list after I finish this comment!
DeleteAnd yes, ma'am, 65% Romance / 35% Suspense sounds like a pretty good mix to me too!
I can't thank you enough for your prayers and encouragming comment, my friend, both bless me immeasurably!
Hugs and more hugs,
Julie
Hi Julie, your books sounds awesome, I'm dying to know who the killer is!
ReplyDelete1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader? Both, maybe a bit more romance....
2.) If both, what percentage of each? 75/25
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off? Probably not, your story sounds like a winner!
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? 😍 I think so!
P.S. I have your Romance-ology book that you wrote a long time ago, so I know all about those kisses! LOL Best of luck with your new book!
WHOOPS, Karen ... I responded to your comment in the new comment beneath it instead of on yours. 😳
DeleteKaren, thank you SO much for your sweet comment about Romance-ology 101 -- MUCH appreciated! And 75/25 sounds like a pretty good mix to me, too! ;)
ReplyDeleteHugs and GOOD LUCK in the contest!
Julie
1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader? I truly enjoy both generes equally, but I really love romantic suspense best.
2.) If both, what percentage of each? 60 Suspense and 40 romance.
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off? Not at all, That would be a perfect mix.
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? 😍 Yes, it would. Julie, I have to say, that I often find a little suspense in any good romance too.
Cindy, I hear you on that, my friend -- keep 'em guessing in romance as well as romantic suspense! ;)
DeleteGood luck in the contest!
Hugs,
Julie
1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader? I think I can read any genre so long there's romance. Romance is the heart of books for me!
ReplyDelete2.) If both, what percentage of each? I'd say 60/40? I'm not really sure honestly. I think I love a perfect balance of the two.
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off? Absolutely not. Like I said perfect balance of two. Especially if you know how to pull it off.(Which you do*wink*)
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? Yeah!
I can't wait to read this new book you have in store for us. Ive already preordered my copy and I'm counting down the days when it would finally arrive in the mail! I told my mum about your new release and she was scared to read it because she knows how well you can keep your readers in suspense even in the normal romance books you right. She's afraid you will be too good with this one😄.
Thank you so much and God bless you!
From your die-hard reader,
Lizzy
Oh my goodness, Lizzy, I wish I could give both you and your sweet mum a big ol' hug, girlfriend, because your comment just blessed the socks off of me! I wish I had your mum's confidence in me because I could sure use it on this one, for sure! Please tell her thank you for me, okay?
DeleteAnd you won my heart with your statement that, "Romance is the heart of books for me!" We are definitely two of a kind, my friend, so THANK YOU for coming by and blessing me.
Hugs and good luck in the draw, Lizzy, because I would LOVE to name a character after both you and your mum!
Hugs!
Julie
1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader? I like a romance with a bit more to it. I definitely enjoy suspense a bit more.
ReplyDelete2.) If both, what percentage of each? I would love a 50/50 romance suspense.
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off?
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? 😍 NOPE!!!!!
Anne, you said, "I like a romance with a bit more to it." Uh-oh, girl, we could be a match made in heaven because I write romance with a bit more to it -- more romantic passion, more spiritual passion, and more twists than a normal romance, so good luck in the contest because I would love to send you a winning copy!
DeleteHugs,
Julie
Question#1: Both!!
ReplyDeleteQuestion #2: The percentage of each would depend on the story, but since you want a number, 50/50
Question #3:. No
Question #4: As with question #2, it would depend on the story.
I enjoyed your video (your husband did a great job making it!)... looking forward to reading this, I'm sure it's going to be a great one! Thanks for having this giveaway!
Hey, Angela, "50/50" fills the bill for this story, my friend, so I hope you get a chance to read it with a winning copy!
DeleteHugs!
Julie
1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader? BOTH LEANING A LITTLE TOWARD SUSPENSE
ReplyDelete2.) If both, what percentage of each? 45/55 for suspense
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off? ABSOLUTLEY NOT
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? yes
Virginia! If your last name is "Rush," I will admit, "leaning toward suspense" does surprise me a wee bit, but then again not so much if you are a diehard suspense reader. But you're close enough to 50/50 that I think The Secret of Emerald Cottage might just be up your alley! ;)
DeleteHugs,
Julie
1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader? Yes, though I do enjoy mysteries once in awhile too.
ReplyDelete2.) If both, what percentage of each? Probably 75% romance and 25% mysteries.
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off? No.
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? Yes, everyone needs a little balance :) .
LOL, Megan ... yes all we do need "a little balance" in our lives, but I will admit that there is one place I don't have a lot of balance -- in the drama I like to inject in my books! ;)
DeleteHugs,
Julie
1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader?
ReplyDeleteBoth. I need balance. Susan May Warren does a really good job with balance in most of her books.
2.) If both, what percentage of each?
That's hard to answer. It would most likely depend on the story line. 50/50 is a safe bet.
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off?
Definitely not. I love all types of books and I enjoy a balance. Some romance with mystery, or romance with political thriller etc..
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? 😍
If it was well written, 50/50 would be enough.
This comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteHey, Kristen, I couldn't agree more that 50/50 is a safe bet, my friend, so hopefully The Secret of Emerald Cottage will be a safe bet too! ;)
DeleteHugs and good luck!
Julie
1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader? Romance. I want a good character development. I want a ton of spiritual encouragement and challenge. I want passionate romance.
ReplyDelete2.) If both, what percentage of each? 5% suspense, 95% character development including romance between characters, including past characters. I really really like it when you bring back previous characters!
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off? NA. I'm not a suspense reader.
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? I want a ton of character development. I despise suspense and fear. If I wanted to be afraid I'd watch the news, not read fiction. :-D
J:-)mi ... we sound like two peas in a pod, girlfriend! You said, "I want passionate romance." My tagline is "Passion with a Purpose," so I'm with you on that point. And you said you "want a ton of character development," so, girl, I am your girl for dead sure! Hope you win, so good luck!
DeleteHugs,
Julie
Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader? I LOVE romantic suspense. I really want both in the book.
ReplyDelete2.) If both, what percentage of each? Honestly I love a suspense book with just barely a romance like...sure they're falling in love but they're so busy running for their lives there's not much time for kissing. :)
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off? I definitely want a romance in there...so I can handle 50/50
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? I'm a big reader of non-romance suspense, police dramas and spy thrillers, like that. So I've got no problem with less romance.
I can't wait for this, Julie!
MARY!! Thank you SO much for hosting me on Seekerville, my friend -- this has been SO fun!
DeleteI have to admit, I'm pretty shocked to hear you're a big reader of non-romance suspense, police dramas and spy thrillers because of the fun rom-com books you write, but then I do remember you writing a few edgy thrillers, too, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised because you are obviously a woman of many talents! ;)
Hugs and more hugs!
Julie
1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader?
ReplyDeleteRomance
2.) If both, what percentage of each?
95% romance
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off?
No
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough?
Yes, but a 75% romance to 25% suspense would be better
LOL, Jessica -- 95% romance? Then I think you need to read my straight romance books, starting with A Passion Most Pure because they are 100% passionate romance with a couple of big twists thrown in for mystery. I think we could be good friends, girl, since our tastes run in the same vein.
DeleteHugs and good luck!
Julie
Didn't do survey..internet issues...but want to say I am so excited about your book, Julie, and I pre-ordered it when I first heard of it! Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteJackie, you sweetheart, you!! Thanks SO much for the preorder, my friend. I hope you like it.
DeleteHUGS and GOOD LUCK in the draw!
Julie
1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader? A bit of both, I kind of alternate between them and have a hard time picking a favorite, if I had to I would say romance.
ReplyDelete2.) If both, what percentage of each? I like a good mix of both. My son would say all suspense and no romance (he's 16), but I like a bit of romance even in my suspense books :)
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off? Not at all.
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? Yep.
Hey, Cindy, another "romance" girl after my own heart! And LOL about your son! As far as I know, I have never had a teenage boy reader yet, but I am proud to say I've had a number of men readers, so I guess maturity does help. ;)
DeleteHugs!
Julie
.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader? Suspense reader, but I do enjoy a well-written historical romance.
ReplyDelete2.) If both, what percentage of each? 80 suspense and 20 romance
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off? It might. I like a lot of chase scenes and twist and turns that keep me guessing. Even though I do read A LOT in this genre, it is really hard to find one that I can't not guess the bad person before the writer shows it. I usually pick up on all the clues.
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough?
Uh-oh, Kelly, chase scenes? Twists and turns? Keep you guessing? I'm thinkin' this may not be the book for you since there's a bit of a chase scene, but probably not up to your danger standards! ;) And I have no doubt someone with your nose for sniffing out who-dunits will nail this one right out the gate, but hopefully there will be one or two small things that will catch you by surprise. :)
DeleteHugs!!
Julie
ReplyDelete1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader? I think both pretty much the same.
2.) If both, what percentage of each? 50/50
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off? No
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? 😍yes anything you write would be enough.
Aw, Lucy, what a sweet thing to say, my friend -- THANK YOU!
DeleteHere's to a win!
Hugs,
Julie
1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader? Romance, but enjoy suspense
ReplyDelete2.) If both, what percentage of each? I don’t think I’ve ever thought about this.
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off? No
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? No
You sound like me, Pabby. Romance is my game, but since I've been watching Hallmark mysteries, I am enjoying suspense all the more.
DeleteDo you realize that you are my first "50/50 romance would not be enough? Hopefully I can change your mind on that, sweetie! ;) Especially if you win, so GOOD LUCK!
Hugs,
Julie
1) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader? both

Hey, bn100, thank you so much for your sweet comment on the video! I think it's intriguing, too ... especially the hero! ;)

Julie
ReplyDelete1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader? Both
2.) If both, what percentage of each?60/40
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off? No, it does not. When dealing with murder love always have to triumph.
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? Yes
Sonnetta, I LOVE your comment, "When dealing with murder love always have to triumph." Amen and amen, girl!
DeleteHere's hoping YOU can "triumph" with a win, eh?
Hugs and GOOD LUCK!
Julie
1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader?
ReplyDeleteMostly romance. Sometimes I read suspense.
2.) If both, what percentage of each?
Probably 90% romance, 5% suspense (5% other)
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off?
Not a die-hard suspense reader
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough
I think so, since I do read books that are not romances sometimes. We'll find out when I read your book!
Pam!! 90% romance, 5% suspense (5% other) sounds real good to me, girlfriend, but if I wanted to corral some of those diehard RS readers, I had to settle for 50/50, so hopefully we'll find out what you think when you read your winning copy of The Secret of Emerald Cottage! ;)
DeleteHugs and GOOD LUCK!
Julie
1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader? Definitely romance!
ReplyDelete2.) If both, what percentage of each? 75% romance at least because some suspense can make a story that much more interesting.
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off? No
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? No!
Uh-oh, Christy, you said, "4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? No!" Looks like I have my work cut out for me, but I have a feeling my Irish soccer player will change your mind! ;)
DeleteHugs and GOOD LUCK in the draw!
Julie
1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader?
ReplyDeletePrimarily I'm a romance reader, but always love a good suspense.
2.) If both, what percentage of each?
Ah 60% romance, and 40% suspense maybe more romance.
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off?
No, a good romance suspense needs a good balance of each.
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? 😍
I'm a sucker for a good romance, especially Julie's, so yes and no. Like yes it would be enough but I won't complain if there's a little more romance.
LOL, Mia, you are too cute, girlfriend! Thanks for your sweet comment, my friend. And you know what? I wrote the book 50/50, but then at the very end, I went in and spiced it up a wee bit, so I'm thinkin' it's more like 60/40 by now, so hopefully no "complaints," right?
DeleteHugs and GOOD LUCK!
Julie
1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader?
ReplyDeleteRomance
2.) If both, what percentage of each?
probably 70% romance, 30% suspense
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off?
Nope! I would be okay with that balance.
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? 😍
I have loved all your books and would definitely read these new ones, whatever the ratio! Especially with a swoon-worthy Irishman ;)
Aw, Unknown (aka Carmina?), thank you SO much for your sweet comment, my friend, and I am SO with you on the "swoon-worthy Irishman! ;)
DeleteGod bless and good luck, girl, in the draw!
Hugs,
Julie
1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader?I enjoy reading both.
ReplyDelete2.) If both, what percentage of each? Hmm maybe 70% romance and 30% suspense though some of the books I read have both.
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off? Nope
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? Yes as long as the story is good.
AMH ... 70% ROMANCE sounds pretttttty good to me, my friend, so I'm thinkin' you just may be a perfect candidate for The Secret of Emerald Cottage! ;) Good luck, and here's to a win!
DeleteHugs,
Julie
JULIE!!!! I've missed you. I'm about 99% romance and, like you, I've resisted the Hallmark mystery movies, despite having watched just about every Hallmark movie multiple times. You might have convinced me to check out a couple mysteries, though. And after watching your trailer, I can't wait to read the book. Who knows, perhaps it'll be adapted for a Hallmark Mystery movie. ;)
ReplyDeleteMINDY!!! Girl, I've missed you and Seekerville too, SO much, which is why it's such a blast being back here for a few days! And we're kindred Hallmark sisters, it seems, since you've resisted the mystery movies too! Well, as far as my hubby and I are concerned, the best Hallmark mystery movies are all the Murder 101 series (with pretty Polaha-ha, hubba-hubba!) and the Aurora Teagarden series.
DeleteThanks for watching the trailer, my friend, and if you would be interested in a Seeker complimentary e-copy of The Secret of Emerald Cottage, just let me know your email address via private FB message, and I will get one out to you pronto, okay? No pressure. And that goes for any Seeker who wants one. :)
And a Hallmark movie? I'm thinkin' I'm a littttttle to sexy for Hallmark! ;)
Hugs,
Julie
1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader?I enjoy reading both but prefer Suspense. However, a good suspense novel always has a romantic thread in it.
ReplyDelete2.) If both, what percentage of each? Well, I do ready both but probably 70% suspense 30% romance. So if it's a romance author I like, I read them but don't search for pure romance.
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off? Nope
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? I always like a little suspense even in a romance; afterall, there is always the suspense of whether the guy is going to get the girl or vice-a versa.

SHERYL!! So fun to see you here, girl! I was a little worried when I read you preferred 70% suspense, but you saved me with your statement that, "So if it's a romance author I like, I read them but don't search for pure romance." Whew! I know you like my books, so that bodes well for The Secret of Emerald Cottage! ;)
DeleteI'm anxious to see what you think, my friend!
Hugs and GOOD LUCK!
Julie
1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader? Romance definitely
ReplyDelete2.) If both, what percentage of each?75/25
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off? Not from one of my favorite authors.
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? 😍 yes!! Julie is the best at romance.
SAM!! Aw, thank you SO much for your sweet comment, my friend! And YAY, a girl after my own heart -- 75/25!! Unfortunately there aren't a lot of RS novels with that much romance, which is why I attempted to write one. Hopefully you will like it. :)
DeleteGood luck in the contest, girlfriend -- here's to a win!
Hugs and more hugs,
Julie
Julie! Kissing Queen meets cozy mystery? Cannot wait to read this!

Awesome trailer! Love the music. Julie, you amaze me with your skills. Romance, romance, and now cozy mystery. You're my hero!
SALLY!! Oh, girl, I miss you! And goodness, if you are mostly a suspense reader at 75%, my friend, I'm a wee bit worried about how you will receive The Secret of Emerald Cottage. But, I'm keeping my fingers crossed the 50/50 will win you over! ;)

Life has not been easy with me after my marriage was broken when my husband filled for a divorced but I thank God for using LORD ZAKUZA who's like a God on Earth to get my broken marriage restored with his powerful spell. I suffered for depression for 6 months but today, I am so happy for getting to know LORD ZAKUZA for his spell has really made me to believe that of a truth spells are real and they work. I adhered to every bit of instructions given to me by LORD ZAKUZA for he promised me that he will make me happy and proud and really, all that happened and my husband came back to me with his knees on the ground begging me for forgiveness within 48 hours after I got in touch with him and now we are perfectly bonded again for life. I can boldly say to everyone out there that LORD ZAKUZA spells is really the best and most powerful. I'm forever grateful to him till the end of time. So, you can get connected with him on Email via: Lordzakuza7@gmail.com or WhatsApp with this number +1 (740) 573-9483.
ReplyDeleteHey, Susan, I am so sorry about the trials you've had in your marriage, but most grateful the reconciliation has been achieved, my friend. I don't know who Lord Zakuza is, but I do know who the Lord Jesus Christ is -- the one and only true God of the universe -- and I am hoping and praying that someday, you will know Him too, because He loves you so very much, and so do I! God bless you and keep you, dear lady. ♥️

Hey, Mallori, thanks for coming by! I'm glad you are primarily a romance reader, but I wonder what percentage. At any rate, since you said 50/50 would be enough, then you would probably like The Secret of Emerald Cottage. Or at least I hope so! 😳

Hey, Lavila, thank you SO much for reading my books even though you are 60% romance, girl -- that's high praise! And I LOVE Aurora Teagarden too! I hope you watch Mystery 101 because that is SO good too!
DeleteHugs and GOOD LUCK!

Hi Julie! I can't believe I missed you on Monday! (I don't even know what happened that kept me from coming to Seekerville that day!)
ReplyDeleteKudos on your Cozy Mystery adventure! Wishing the greatest success with it!
JAN!!! Girls, it's soooo good to talk to you! And better late than never, right? Thanks for the kudos ... I think I will reserve judgment on those till I see how this puppy does! ;)

SURVEY:
ReplyDelete1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader?
Definitely romance! :) :) :)
2.) If both, what percentage of each?
So, I'd say...like 90 R, 10 S; I don't really read suspense per say, more mystery which has suspense built in...if that makes sense.
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off?
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? 😍
If the plot is engaging and interesting and the characters are multi-dimensional, then I think it would only enhance the romance! Eager to read your new book! :)
SARAH!! Oh, girl, we are two peas in a pod with 90% romance in a mystery, but unfortunately, we are the minority, so I had to stick with 50/50, but I'm hoping it will meet with your approval. Here's to a win!
DeleteHugs and good luck!
Julie
ReplyDelete1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader? More romance but suspense is good too!!
2.) If both, what percentage of each? 60R/40S
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off? No!
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? 😍 yes, your books are always perfectly balanced. Can’t wait to read this new one!! 😍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Thank you! I own all of your books and can’t wait to add this one to my shelf/Kindle. 🥰

1) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader?
ReplyDeleteROMANCE. Nuff said. Although I do like a side of suspense with my romance from time to time.
2.) If both, what percentage of each?
Hmm...90 R 10 S!!!
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off?
Definitely not!
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? 😍
Probably not. LOL! But considering this is Julie Lessman we're talking about...yes!
Durn thing didn't add my name...pretty sure I'm not unknown!
DeleteLove,
Gracie Johnson
<3
LOL, GRACIE ... 90/10 sound pretty darn good to me, too, my friend! ;) I will have to say, as you already know, I went back and spiced up a kiss or two and added one semi-spicy scene, so this book is probably tilting more toward 60/40 rather than my initial 50/50, but it sounds like you are perfectly okay with that as am I! ;)
DeleteThanks for coming by, my sweet friend -- SO appreciate you!
Hugs and more hugs,
Julie
This book does sound good Julie.
ReplyDelete1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader? I enjoy reading both.
I enjoy a Romantic Suspense story. I like the adventure and suspense of it all.
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off? Not if the romance wasn't sappy. Like the whole book is the back and forth he loves me he loves me not. LOL!
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough?
I think this would be ok if the story was engaging.
Thanks for having a giveaway opportunity Julie. All the best! Blessings!
NORA!! I SO wanted you on my blog tour, my friend, but I tried to message you on FB, but it wouldn’t let me do it, so then I went to your old blog, but then I got a warning from Firefox that I shouldn’t go further, and then finally I went to The Book Club Network Blog, but I couldn’t see where I could contact you through that, so I’m at a loss as to how to reach you! I even emailed you, but it must be an old one because I haven't heard back. :(
DeleteIf you come back to read this, can you contact me through my website?
Hugs and more hugs!
Julie
1.) Are you primarily a romance reader or a suspense reader?
ReplyDeleteI am definitely a romance reader :)
2.) If both, what percentage of each?
Pretty much 100% romance lol
3.) If you are a die-hard suspense reader, would 50/50 turn you off?
4.) If you are a diehard romance reader, would 50/50 be enough? 😍
It depends... Your version of 50/50 is enough romance for me :)
Aw, thanks, Unknown, for the sweet comment. I hope you're right on The Secret of Emerald Cottage! ;)
